The New Orleans Saints have cut longtime punter Thomas Morstead.
Morstead’s yards per punt, 43.1, were the lowest of his career in 2020 but the Saints still finished top 10 in the NFL in net punting average last season.
Morstead told a podcast earlier this year that he started this past season a bit behind as an offseason back injury hindered his training and also mentioned an eye issue that will be corrected this offseason but said he mainly felt he was inconsistent with his punts.
Since the Saints drafted him in 2009, Morstead has been one of the NFL’s top specialists, averaging 46.5 yards per punt during his career.
