Dennis Allen wouldn't shed any more light on the situation surrounding Jimmy Graham, who is believed to have suffered a seizure while the Saints spent the majority of last week out west.
But the expectations speak for themselves: The team hopes to get the veteran TE back to practice this week, possibly as early as Wednesday morning.
"I don’t think it’s going to be anything that’s going to cause him to miss any significant amount of time," the head coach said on Tuesday. "I expect him to be out here practicing really quickly.”
It's certainly a positive sign after Graham was taken into custody by police on Friday near the team's resort in California, allegedly walking in traffic and disoriented. Authorities initially believed he was under the influence of a controlled substance, but he was ultimately released to a hospital where he was overseen by team doctor John Amoss.
Graham was back with the team as of Saturday morning and was at SoFi Stadium as the Saints faced off with the Chargers in Week 2, watching the game from the locker room.
The 36-year-old Graham signed with the Saints ahead of training camp and has been a consistent presence throughout, his only absences coming in the form of veteran rest days. Graham actually spoke to the media just hours before the incident took place and professed to feeling the best he had in years.
The Saints are scheduled to practice Wednesday morning, but will not be having joint practices with the Texans as initially scheduled after both teams agreed to call them off. Graham's status will be something to watch this week and as the roster cutdown deadline looms on Aug. 29.
