The New Orleans Saints head into a Week 1 matchup with the Green Bay Packers in Jacksonville with a mostly healthy roster, but there are a handful of names to watch from the final injury report of the week.
Two potential starters in cornerback Ken Crawley and wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith were both listed as "out" with hamstring injuries. Backup offensive lineman James Hurst also appeared on the injury report with a knee injury and is listed as "questionable" for Sunday.
Both Crawley and Smith have been sent to IR, meaning they’ll be out until Week 4 at the earliest. The team also cut veteran safety Jeff Heath.
Left tackle Terron Armstead did not practice, while cornerback Marshon Lattimore returned to full practice after being limited on Thursday. Neither player has an official injury designation for the weekend, making them likely to play.
The first injury report of the season, issued on Wednesday, had just one name in Crawley. He was listed with a hamstring injury suffered during the preseason win over the Jaguars and has not practiced since.
Smith has also missed a large number of practices and was added to Thursday's report with a hamstring injury.
The cornerback position is already precariously thin if Crawley is unable to play, likely thrusting some combination of rookie Paulson Adebo, recently signed veteran Desmond Trufant and possibly even PJ Williams into action on the outside. The Saints also swung a trade for Houston Texans cornerback Bradley Roby, but he won't be available until Week 2 due to a suspension handed down midway through last season.
The Saints will technically "host" the Packers in Jacksonville, a temporary home until the team can return to the Caesars Superdome. Green Bay listed safety Vernon Scott as "out" with a hamstring injury, while linebacker Za'Darius Smith and defensive lineman Tyler Lancaster were both listed as "questionable" with back injuries.
