Could another New Orleans son soon be headed back home?
The Saints have hosted former Raiders tight end Foster Moreau on a free agent visit this week, according to a report from ESPN's Field Yates. Moreau is a New Orleans native who starred at Jesuit and LSU before being drafted in the 4th round in 2019.
Moreau, 25 has been consistent throughout his four NFL seasons, all of which were played alongside new Saints quarterback Derek Carr.
In 61 games, Moreau has logged 91 catches for 1,107 yards and 12 touchdowns. He logged a career year in 2022 with Darren Waller missing a bulk of it with injuries, accounting for 33 catches, 420 yards and 2 TDs.
If the Saints do bring in Moreau, he'd join a tight end room highlighted by Juwan Johnson, who led the Saints with 7 receiving touchdowns last season and was re-signed this offseason on a 2-year, $12 million contract. The Saints also have 2020 third-round selection Adam Trautman, who has been consistent in the run game but underwhelming in the receiving game.
Moreau has also been rumored to be a popular target for the Bengals, where he could rejoin his former quarterback from his LSU days in Joe Burrow. In four seasons at LSU (2015-'19), Moreau collected 52 catches for 629 yards and 6 TDs.
Aside from Carr, who was brought in on a 4-year, $150 million deal, the Saints have also agreed to terms on a 3-year, $12 million deal to help bolster the offensive side of the ball. WR Michael Thomas and QB Jameis Winston have also both agreed to return on reworked 1-year deals.
