The New Orleans Saints placed receiver Tre’Quan Smith on injured reserve Thursday and made several other roster moves ahead for their Christmas Day matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.
Smith left Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with an ankle injury and was ruled out of Friday’s game.
New Orleans will have options at receiver as the team activated rookie Marquez Callaway, who returned to practice this week after missing the Saints’s last three games, from injured reserve.
The franchise also elevated receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey from the practice squad and signed practice squad receiver Austin Carr to the 53-man roster.
The Saints also activated backup quarterback Jameis Winston from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
New Orleans waived receiver Tommylee Lewis and guard Patrick Omameh as well.
