Saints quarterback Drew Brees is eligible to return from injured reserve this week after missing the last three games with several fractured ribs and a collapsed lung.
Following Sunday’s win against the Atlanta Falcons Brees spoke with CST’s Mike Nabors and when asked if he would be play in the team's upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Brees responded: “Maybe. We’ll see.”
Brees went through some of his normal pregame routine Sunday and did say he feels he’s making progress toward a return.
“I’m getting antsy,” he told neighbors. “I want to play but I also know there s a process with healing here and there are kind of some benchmarks I need to hit in order to get back out there.”
Brees told Nabors he’s been working hard to reach those benchmarks.
“It’s just one step at a time,” he said. “I feel like I got the best team working on it with (director of sports medicine) Beau Lowery and our team with the Saints. So, man, everyday we’ve got a plan, we execute that plan and I feel like each and everyday I feel a little bit better.”
