Saints receive 3 compensatory picks in 2021 NFL Draft, now have 6 selections total

The New Orleans Saints received three compensatory picks Wednesday giving the franchise six total picks in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft.

The Saints were awarded two picks in the third round (98 and 106 overall) and one in the sixth round (218).

The compensatory picks were awarded for the Saints loosing Teddy Bridgewater in free agency and as part of the NFL’s new policy to incentivize the development and hiring of minority front office and coaching candidates. Saints director of pro scouting Terry Fontenot left to become the general manager of the Atlanta Falcons.

With these picks the Saints will now select at 28th in the first round, 60th overall in the second, 98th and 106th in the third, 133rd overall in the fourth and  218th in the sixth.

The Saints lost this year’s seventh-round pick as part of NFL discipline for violating the league’s COVID-19 protocols and could potentially lose another as the league is reportedly could discipline the franchise further.
