The New Orleans Saints scheduled opponent for Sunday, the Denver Broncos, closed their facility Friday after a player and two staff members tested positive for COVID-19.
The Saints are still preparing for a 3:05 p.m. kickoff and Payton said situations like what the Broncos are facing are just part of playing during a pandemic.
“It’s the 2020 season and after a while you really focus on the things you can control,” Payton said. “We’re trained that way, the teams are trained that way, the players certainly the coaches and that’s…obviously, this won’t be the first time and we go full speed ahead.”
The Broncos aren’t the only team to deal with a positive COVID-19 test this week. The NFL postponed a scheduled Thanksgiving Day matchup between the the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens after several Ravens players tested positive for the Coronavirus.
Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson was among the players who’ve tested positive.
