An ACL tear kept Noah Spence off the field for the Saints in 2020, but the team is hoping the defensive end has better luck this coming season re-signing the pass rusher to a one-year deal for the league minimum.
The 27-year-old hasn’t seen action on the field since 2019 in Washington where he notched a sack with 2 hits on the quarterback in 7 games. Before that Spence was a 2nd round pick in 2016 out of Eastern Kentucky for the Buccaneers where he totaled 6.5 sacks with 14 hits on the QB in 34 contests for Tampa.
The 6’2”, 251 pounder once had an impressive burst off the edge and if healthy could provide some depth behind Marcus Davenports and Carl Granderson. A breakout 12.5 sack season for DE Trey Hendrickson may drive his price tag up to high for the Saints liking on the open market of free agency.
