New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston is set to compete with Taysom Hill during the team's upcoming training camp to replace long-time starter and future Hall-of-Famer Drew Brees.
Winston recently took some time to fire up a few kids at their camp as well. A video made the rounds on Twitter Tuesday night showing the former Heisman Trophy winner telling a group of young players to love the game and work hard at it.
Winston used his own story as an example to the group telling them: “I went from being the No. 1 draft pick to everybody laughing at me. But guess what? I’m about that business. I’m out working everyone at my position."
Winston was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and spent the first five seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He served as a backup quarterback for the Saints last season but impressed Saints coaches and front office staff members during the 2020 season.
New Orleans re-signed Winston earlier this year.
