There’s no doubt the New Orleans Saints failed to live up to the expectations of their fans when they fell short against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night. And now they face an even stiffer challenge Sunday night when they entertain the 2-0 Green Bay Packers in the Superdome.
But the “Voice of the Saints” Zach Strief feels this matchup may be just what the doctor ordered for the Black and Gold.
It feels almost like this is the perfect type of a game to have after a letdown. I know a lot of people maybe look at it like, “Aw man, now you’ve got the Packers coming in.” But if you’re as talented as the Saints are, then what better situation can you be in than having to face the hottest offense in football and a team that’s kind of sprinted out of the gates. And now everybody’s questioning whether you’re any good or not.
Color analyst Deuce McAllister, Strief’s radio partner, agrees that he expects the 1-1 Saints to rise to the occasion in Week 3.
You’re catching them in a beehive. And you want to be the bees that’s buzzing around… That’s what you have to play it like. When you go back and look at it, and we know this team had to do some soul searching, and it’s [not necessarily] because maybe you’re reading the outside noise. But it’s really because, man, I know I’m better than what I went out there and played on Monday night.
The Saints and Packers kick off at 7:20 Sunday night on WWL.
Our pregame coverage starts that afternoon at 3pm.
