NFL legend Tom Brady has become an unlikely focal point in the online discussion surrounding student debt relief.
This week, President Joe Biden made the monumental announcement of the cancellation of $10,000 in student loans for borrowers of a certain income level.

Despite the modest boon for tens of millions of borrowers, not everyone was pleased. Conservative-leaning pundits and lawmakers, in particular, saw the move as an undue handout.
Their backlash was not appreciated on social media, where countless users pointed out the forgiving of hundreds of billions in loans doled out as part of the federal paycheck protection program. While the loans were supposed to go to worker paychecks, one study found that two-thirds to three-quarters of the loans instead went to business owners and shareholders.
Among the companies who received a loan was Brady's TB12. The outfit was loaned roughly $960,000, all of which was later forgiven, according to Pro Publica. Brady has raked in nearly $303 million in salary thus far, and was due another $30 million in 2022, per Spotrac.
