In a new report from the New York Times it was revealed that a lab study couldn't find any tuna DNA in several sandwiches purchased at three Los Angeles locations.
This comes after a lawsuit from two people in Berkeley earlier this year claiming that the sandwich chain's tuna isn't fish.
The NYT study reported that the lab couldn't identify the species of fish at all. It was noted that it's processed to the point where an identification couldn't be made, or it's actually not tuna. A "tuna expert" did note that tuna can be hard to identify once its cooked.
This study challenges one from Inside Edition earlier this year that found actual tuna in sandwiches from New York area Subway shops. A Subway rep has also said these claims are baseless and damaging to franchisees and small business owners.
