WCCO Reporter Mark Freie caught a powerful moment today as a man prayed outside the Brooklyn Center Police Department. The man in the video, Michael Wilson, prayed not only for the community but also for the police.
“Father God, thank you for the blessings we are taking right now. Thank you for the blessings that are so necessary right now,” Wilson said. “Thank you for giving us the pleasure of breathing this morning. So that we can understand who the heck we belong to.”
As Wilson continues in his prayer, he rebukes “the devil’s work,” stating that “he has no place here.”
“In the glorious name of Jesus, we make sure that these officers are prayed for, this military’s prayed for, these babies are prayed for, America is prayed for, and everyone out here fighting to risk their lives for…” said Wilson.
He then continues, seemingly addressing the officer standing a few feet in front of him.
“So please, bless this officer right in front of me for having an open mind and an open heart for listening to me. Thank you, brother, for loving us, and appreciating us, and being willing to be duplicated by the power of Jesus because that’s what you’re here for,” Wilson said.
Wilson ends his prayer by highlighting the group's love for Jesus and love for the officer standing behind two chain-linked fences.
“So brother, we love you. Jesus, we love you! Jesus, we love you,” Wilson repeats. “And in your glorious name we pray, in your glorious name we pray, everybody say it,” Wilson said.
“Amen,” The crowd finishes.
After the prayer, Wilson and the unnamed officer exchange a few words.
“I am going to pray for you every day until this fence comes down. Once this fence comes down, it’s me and you. Tell your kids I said hello,” said Wilson.
“You too. Take care, brother,” the unnamed officer responds.
