Boeing workers go on strike

More than 30,000 Boeing workers are set to strike today, after nearly 95 percent of the company's staff rejected a new labor contract. Union President Jon Holden said employees are demanding higher pay raises and better health benefits. Boeing had offered a 25-percent pay increase over the next four years. The strike will halt production of Boeing’s bestselling jets.

As of earlier this morning, more than 124,000 Louisiana customers were
without power after Hurricane Francine brought flooding rains and 100 mph
winds. Phillip May, CEO of Entergy Louisiana, said the utility had about 6,000-line workers deployed. May added the scale of the outages was far less than during Hurricane Ida in 2021.


On Wall Street, futures are on the upswing. On Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrials Index gained 235 points, the Nasdaq gained 174, and the S&P 500 gained 41.
