The Biden administration's plan to spend $80 billion rebuilding the nation's railroad assets could enable Amtrak to pursue the ambitious goal of providing a rail alternative to flying and driving nationwide, as it does now on the Eastern Seaboard. Amtrak's plans follow recommendations developed over the years by state governments, and studies by the Federal Railroad Administration under both Republican and Democratic administrations, that recommend building out regional rail networks in the Southeast, Southwest and Midwest.
The box office rekindled some of its old might over the weekend thanks to “Godzilla vs. Kong,” which easily scored the best opening of the pandemic with an estimated $48.5 million since opening last Wednesday, even as it was simultaneously streaming at home. The monster battle was the widest domestic release in the past year, playing in more than 3,000 theaters.
