Global stock markets are plummeting as investors reacted to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and attacks on its capital city. Dow futures are down more than 800 points, after the index dropped 465 yesterday. Indexes in Europe and Asia are also sharply lower, while oil prices are soaring – trading around $100 a barrel. Prices for gold, typically seen as a safe-haven asset, are surging.
Your Entergy bill is likely going up, after the Louisiana Public Service Commission voted to let Entergy Louisiana borrow $3.2 billion to pay for repairs and restoration after storms that hit the state in 2020 and 2021. The utility says the borrowing surcharge for customers would work out at about $8 a month. The company expects to seek at least another $1 billion this year to cover the remainder of those costs, as well as the costs to Entergy New Orleans ratepayers.
