U.S. natural-gas exporters are speeding up efforts to ship more gas to lucrative global markets.
Sempra Infrastructure is moving forward with a project to build a natural-gas export terminal on the Gulf Coast, potentially adding much-needed supplies of LNG for overseas buyers.
The project is the first phase of Port Arthur LNG, which would be the largest U.S. terminal approved since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine sent Europe scrambling to replace Russian gas.
Meta Platforms is planning to begin large-scale layoffs this week, in what could be the first broad head-count reductions to occur in the company’s 18-year history.
The Wall Street Journal says the layoffs are expected to affect thousands of employees. Meta reported more than 87,000 employees at the end of September.
Company officials already told employees to cancel nonessential travel beginning this week.
Futures are higher after stocks closed sharply higher on Friday. The Dow Industrials jumped 402, the Nasdaq gained 132 and the S&P 500 was up 50.
