Business: OPEC reschedules meeting amid sell-off

OPEC Plus has pushed back a pair of meetings in response to Friday’s sell-off. The cartel of the world’s oil-producing nations and its allies will now meet on Wednesday and Thursday to decide on whether to go ahead with planned output increases.

OPEC Plus had originally agreed to boost production by 400 thousand barrels a day. Friday was the worst single-day drop for oil benchmarks since April of 2020. That said, West Texas Intermediate and Brent are both up more than 4 percent this morning.


Well, you may not have enjoyed seeing Bills fans around the city for Thursday’s game. But the Saints game was a big driver for New Orleans’ tourism industry, which benefitted from the holiday weekend’s busy slate of events. New Orleans and Company – the city’s tourism bureau – said hotel occupancy was at more than 80 percent over the weekend. They said it’s close – if not equal to – pre-pandemic levels from 2019.
