The investing world may not be quite “normal” yet. But it is getting there if the stock market’s performance is to be believed. As companies’ earnings reports continue to roll in with impressive gains, stocks have responded. And that has boosted stock funds. U.S.-stock funds posted an average return of 4.7% in April, to push their year-to-date gain to 13.5%.
Ford is recalling nearly 617,00 Explorer SUVs because retention pins could loosen and allow roof rail covers to detach from the vehicle. The recall covers 2016 through 2019 model year vehicles. There have been 11 reports of detachments.
Slowly but surely, travelers are trickling back to the airport. On Friday, 1.7 million people were screened at security checkpoints, the highest point since last March. The record could be reset again over the next few days as travelers return from Mother’s Day trips. In April and so far in May, airport crowds are down about 40% compared with the same period in 2019.
