Speaking with Newell Normand Wednesday morning on WWL, Michael Hecht head of GNO Inc., and a member of the NOLA Coalition, says there are similarities between some of the aims of the $80-million plan being put forth by the new consulting Deputy Chiefs of the department and points made by the Coalition for the department.
“Elements of the plan, like the increased pay for recruitment and retention, the improved working conditions, like dealing with equipment and PIB, the move toward civilianization, that are called for specifically in the NOLA Coalition Platform.”
Hecht says the points are significant and should be commended.
Hecht would like to see more details about the plan, specifically about civilianization.
He also wants to know how the program will be sustainable since the money is coming from a one-time federal resource.
