The #IceCreamChallenge Has Chilling Effect On Consumers

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The latest Internet sensation is the #IceCreamChallenge, which encourages people to tamper with ice cream in various ways.

The chilling effect is this: Shoppers have gone to great measures to make sure nobody has contaminated the frozen treat they are about to buy. 

Users are now taking to Twitter to show the world how the recent incidents of tampering has changed their ice cream-buying habits.

"I think this speaks really to what is happening to our society at large," Shelly Palmer, CEO of the Palmer Group, told the Noon Business Hour Thursday.

"This is beyond disgusting behavior and it is encouraged, because you get an opportunity to be famous for a second. If you do something outrageous and who are you really harming, the answer is this is a reflection of the deevolution of what is civil and what is not civil."
