Fourteen names will appear on the ballot for mayor of New Orleans this fall.
Most of the heavy-hitters signed up when qualifying opened Wednesday, with State Senator Royce Duplessis adding his name Thursday.

Sheriff Susan Hutson waited until the last day of qualifying to make her campaign for reelection officials. She had suspended campaign activities in the wake of the escape of ten prison inmates in May. Nine of those escapees are back in custody.
In all, there are six candidates for sheriff.
Three incumbents were automatically reelected.
New Orleans City Council District B Member Lesli Harris, Orleans Coroner Dr. Dwight McKenna, and Clerk of Civil District Court Chelsey Richard Napoleon were the only ones to qualify for their respective races.
The primary is October 11.
