More than 160,000 COVID-vaccinated residents have registered to get another shot, a shot at a million dollars. Assistant Secretary for the Louisiana Department of Health Kim Hood said the lottery to incentivize more people to get vaccinated, ShotAtAMillion.com, went live at noon on Monday.
“Right when it opened we have over 15 thousand people in cue the moment we opened up registration which is really exciting,” Hood said.
Officials are pleased the vaccine lottery is off to such a good start. Hood said registration is quick and easy you just have to enter some basic information contact information, date of birth, and where you received your vaccination.
With weekly prizes starting July 9th and for the next four weeks, Hood said many people have asked if they have to register weekly to be considered.
“Nope, you only need to register once and that will put you into the hopper for all of the prizes,” Hood said.
There are 14 total prizes in the vaccine lottery, five cash prizes, and nine scholarships. Hood said you don’t have to upload a photo of your vaccine card, however, if your name is picked, they will verify your vaccine status.
“If you’re one of the lucky winners we’ll match up your information against your vaccine record and make sure that you’re eligible in all the other ways that are spelled out in the terms and conditions and then we’ll reach out and get in touch with you and give you the good news,” Hood said.
To register go to ShotAtAMillion.com or call 877-356-1511. The states’ vaccination rate is just below 34-percent.
