A Slidell woman arrested in connection with the death of a reporter who was in New Orleans to cover Super Bowl LIX has been booked for murder, and an alleged accomplice is in custody in Florida, awaiting extradition.
Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley says they re-arrested Danette Colbert in the death of Adan Manzano, who worked for a Kansas City Telemundo affiliate.
Authorities say Manzano had Xanax in his system at the time of his death. Xanax can be deadly in high enough doses or when mixed with alcohol.
Colbert was originally arrested on charges of using Manzano's credit card. Police say new evidence led them to believe she did not act alone, and obtained an arrest warrant for Rickey White.
White was arrested in Hollywood, Florida, by U.S. Marshals, Hollywood Police Department, U.S. Secret Service, and Kenner Police detectives. He is being held in jail in Broward County as he awaits extradition.
Charges against White include robbery, access device fraud, bank fraud, computer fraud, and illegal transmission of monetary funds.
Police say security video shows Colbert and Manzano arriving together at the Kenner hotel where Manzano was found dead, and shows Colbert leaving alone about an hour later.
Colbert is being held in the Jefferson Parish jail.
