Two men died in a three-vehicle pileup on I-10 about seven miles west of LaPlace Saturday night. Louisiana State Police says it happened around 9:30 p.m. in the west-bound lanes.
Troopers say 27-year-old Brandon Cedotal of Gonzales was driving a Ford F-5550 tow truck, when, for reasons still under investigation, he lost control. The vehicle came to a stop partially in the median, and partially in the left lane.
A BMW driven by 18-year-old Seamus Cassidy of Arnaudville collided with the tow truck. Shortly afterward, a Ford F-150 driven by 32-year-old Oger Ivan Mejia-Puentes of Honduras also hit the tow truck. Troopers say both Cassidy and Mejia-Puentes were properly restrained, but suffered fatal injuries.
Cedota, the tow truck driver, escaped injury.
State police say it is not known if any drivers were impaired. Blood samples have been taken from all three for testing.
