Carjackings and armed robberies are not slowing down in New Orleans as New Orleans police are investigating five armed robberies and a carjacking that happened over the last 24 hours.
All of the incidents happened across the city on Sunday.
According to a police report, a man was robbed by a group of armed men in the 1600 block of Elysian Field Avenue.
Police say the suspects approached the man and demanded the victim's property. The victim complied and the suspects attempted to take the victim’s vehicle but could not start it. The victim was able to flee in his own vehicle.
In the 5600 block of Loyola Avenue, a man was robbed by an armed man and woman.
The suspects arrived in a stolen vehicle before carjacking and shooting the victim. The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS.
Then, in the 1400 block of Tita Street, a man was robbed by two armed men while helping a woman with her vehicle.
Police say the victim assisted the woman with her car and asked the suspects if they would help him help her. The suspects produced a weapon and demanded the victim’s belonging. He complied and the suspects fled the scene.
In the 4400 block of Majestic Oaks Drive, a man was robbed by two men after holding his dog hostage at gunpoint. Police say the suspect approached the victim who was in a vehicle and took the victim’s dog at gunpoint before fleeing the scene with the dog and the victim’s belongings.
Then at the corner of Tulane Avenue and South Broad Street two male suspects robbed a man at gunpoint.
Police say the suspects approached the victim and demanded his property. The victim complied and the suspects fled.
The violence during that 24-hour period did not stop with the armed robberies.
Two men were carjacked by at least four armed men in the 1700 block of Louisa Street.
According to a police report, the suspect crashed their vehicle into the victim’s vehicle from behind.
The suspects then exited their vehicle and demanded the victims’ vehicle. The victims complied and one suspect fled inside the victims’ green 2005 Honda Element Arizona license plate 08A89A.
