Police in New Orleans is investigating five shootings in a 24 hour period. Two of the shootings were fatal.
The first fatal shooting happened in the 1100 block Nunez Street at around 8:23 a.m. on Thursday. The 23-year-old victim was fatally shot in the back.
Later Thursday evening, another shooting happened. This time it was at around 4:10 p.m. in the 300 blocks North Derbigny Street.
The suspects drove up to the victim and opened fire on the victim then fled the scene according to the NOPD.
The third shooting happened an hour and ten minutes later. This time it happened at the intersection of Laharpe Street and Rousselin Drive.
A police report says the alleged suspect produced a gun and shot the 28-year-old victim in hand. The victim later arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle.
At around 6:16 p.m. NOPD officers arrived in the 5500 block McKenna Street and found the 59-year-old victim not breathing and with a gunshot wound. EMS arrived and pronounced the victim dead on the scene.
Later, at around 7:50 p.m. shooting happened in the 1400 block Egania Street.
Police say the suspect in a vehicle pulled up next to the 20-year-old victim and opened fire. Victim struck several times. The victim arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle.
