A few storms around with warm temperatures

Upper troughing oriented from the western Gulf across the south and toward the eastern Great Lakes is keeping us under cloudy skies and rainy pattern. What's interested is that within this pattern, as the trough moves a bit more east and the upper low eventually cuts off and settles over the area, dry air aloft will also move in. So while this pattern would normally increase rain coverage and intensity, accumulation forecasts for the next 7 days are rather low. Not many location across SE LA and SW MS in excess of an inch and a half of rain! A few downpours while possible will not be widespread. Cloudy skies should also keep temperatures out of the 90s. This pattern looks to hold through the week and weekend. By the end of the weekend, the upper low will weaken and rain chances diminish. A deep upper trough then looks to push a cold front through late Monday, Tuesday. This could be our first real front with a noticeable drop in humidity. We'll see if this model trend continues.

Eye on the Tropics:

Danielle and Earl continue as our only named storms in the Atlantic with no direct impacts to land. Models are picking up on another eastern Atlantic tropical wave to develop in the coming days, but it too should remain out to sea. Another low potential system now highlighted by the NHC is not being depicted by models for development once over the tropical Atlantic.
So far the season remains below average and let's hope that continues!
