A much different celebration of Mardi Gras for 2021 from the Krewe of Bacchus.
The Krewe made its announcement this afternoon at Blaine Kern Studios on the New Orleans water front.
This year's Bacchus celebration parade is scheduled for February 14, Bacchus Sunday.
But the parade will not be held in front of throngs of people with flying beads and throws.
It will be a virtual celebration on the Krewe's app.
"We're going to take images and have a parade virtually. We're going to get kings to come on and speak, we're going to have bands, live music. So if you're watching your phone and a float comes by its goign to be throwing beads and trinkets, etcetera, but virtually."
Those virtual throws can be redeemed for actual items, including a bicycle, and real silver and gold doubloons.
