An Acadia Parish woman has been arrested after her infant died from overdosing on methamphetamines.
Autumn Navarre, 27, is alleged to have first exposed the child to meth when she used the drug during pregnancy.
Then in August, Acadian Parish sheriff’s deputies responded to a call that the infant was unresponsive in Navarre’s home.
The child was transported to a local hospital but died at the medical facility.
The cause of death was revealed to be methamphetamine intoxication when autopsy and toxicology reports were received by the sheriff’s office on October 31. Those reports led to a warrant to search the home.
Detectives found drug paraphernalia on the premises, and Navarre was taken into custody.
She has been charged with one count of negligent homicide. Her bond is set at $100,000.
