After nightly freezes, might the Northshore see snow?

Snow

We are in for a lot of rain, but after repeated overnight freezes, could any of tonight's rain turn into snow?

"Not in New Orleans," said LSU Health Climatologist Barry Keim.

Keim says warmer air will return just in time to dash anyone hoping of a white post-Christmas.

"The rain becomes more of an issue on Thursday into Friday. By that time, things are going to warm up across southeastern Louisiana," Keim explained.

So no snow around metro New Orleans, but anyone traveling to northern parts of the state or into central Mississippi may need to be wary. Keim says luckily, we'll likely avoid those roadway headaches.

"I know everybody wants snow, it's always such a good time," he said. "But you don't want freezing rain which is a very dangerous situation."
