Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill addressed the media in a press conference from the Federal Court steps and drilled down on what an investigation into the city of New Orleans' preparation for and response to the attack in the French Quarter will look like.
"First we start with was there a barrier at Bourbon Street. In the days since, I think we've learned more could've been done."
Murrill says she will also seek answers to questions like what contingency plans were made in case of a breach.
It's not lost on the Attorney General that some proposed changes would fundamentally change what people have come to love about New Orleans.
"There is a general assistance to some of the barriers we need for a greater sense of security. I just think we need to balance that correctly."
Murrill says she loves the city of New Orleans, as does most people, but it's time now to seriously consider how to keep safety first.
