NFL defensive end Aldon Smith turned himself into the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.

He was booked with second-degree battery in connection with an alleged assault on a man that happened on April 17 outside a coffee shop on West Judge Perez in Chalmette, says Sheriff James Pohlmann.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau issued a warrant for Smith’s arrest. Smith turned himself into St. Bernard Parish Prison shortly before 7 p.m. on Tuesday. He was booked and released on bond.
