The NOPD is investigating a shooting that occurred today, near the intersection of Opelousas and Olivier Streets that left a 22-year-old male victim dead.
At about 11:13 a.m., Fourth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area.
The adult male victim was located outside and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Even though the victim was treated he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as motive.
No further information is available at this time.
