Mother's Day is this weekend and area restaurants are sure to be packed. That will mean long wait times for seating and service.
However, there's one clue that may tip off that the kitchen will manage its wait times and get customers in and out reasonably.
If a restaurant switches to a “special menu”, Ian McNulty Food Culture Columnist says this may not be for the benefit of patrons.
“The special is for the kitchen to make the load more manageable.”
McNulty says don’t skip out on dining at those establishment as you may find them a better time for mom.
“Their efforts to draw in sales will result in quality service times.”
These economic times may be a bit hard for people, and though it can be tempting to try to find deals for dining out, he says this won’t be the weekend to do it.
“The menus will be tailored to what they think is a good draw but it’s not the time to look for lagniappe necessarily.”
