An Amtrak train hit a vehicle just south of Amite Wednesday afternoon.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office says at least one person was killed and two others hospitalized.
The collision happened near U.S. 51 and Ponders Quarters Lane.
U.S. 51 was closed in the area during the investigation. It has since reopened.
The south-bound City of New Orleans was released to continue on to New Orleans.
