Homicide detectives are on scene at another killing on the streets of New Orleans.

This time in the Fifth District where officers found a man dead on a sidewalk near the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Desire Street in front of the parking lot to Stewart’s Diner.

The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

NOPD says it was the second shooting within 30-minutes today.

They say a man was wounded by gunfire on Seventh Street near South Saratoga.

The investigation into that shooting was just getting underway when the call about the dead body came in.

The ensuing police presence brought heavy afternoon commuter traffic on North Claiborne to a crawl as drivers sought to get a look at the crime scene and investigators entered and exited the diner speaking with potential witnesses.

“That’s all New Orleans is, a ... curse,” a woman sitting on the restaurant's steps and looking on at the crime scene told the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate.
