New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell along with police chief Shaun Ferguson and Saint’s defensive end, Cam Jordan announced today a new anti-racism training program for NOPD officers in the streets.
The program will help officers conduct better policing through leadership and racial equity says, city leaders.
The program started in the summer of 2019 with 10 officers and has expanded to include 60 to 80 more officers over the next two years.
Cam Jordan partnered with nonprofit Crescent City Corps to spearhead the new police-training program.
“One percent better every day in some way can always lead to a positive impact, a positive change,” said Jordan. “I feel that this is not a solution, this is not a completion of everything. This is a continuation of work that is already being done. From the social justice leaders that have been on the ground, to the leaders who are in the system now, fighting for a positive impact, I feel we have a chance to bring a positive impact in this way.”
