Surveillance cameras captured video of two men stealing copper wire from air conditioning units outside a Tangipahoa Parish church. Now, sheriff's deputies are asking the public to help them identify those suspects.
The theft took place in May at the Antioch Baptist Church on Antioch Road in Tickfaw.
According to sheriff's deputies, church members saw the two units had been damaged and noticed that copper tubing had been removed from the condensers.
"Surveillance video from the day before showed what appears to be a white male wearing light-colored pants and a blue PetCo t-shirt walking around the units in the morning," a Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson said in a statement. "Then, in the overnight hours, the camera captured what appeared to be a small pick-up truck with a chrome toolbox entering the property. Moments later, a man wearing light-colored overalls, a hoodie and glasses is seen behind the A/C units. A second man, matching the same description as the one seen on the property in the morning, is then seen talking with the individual trying to steal the wiring. Finally, the video shows one of the suspects walking off with the stolen tubing."
Anyone who has any information about this crime or who recognizes the suspects is urged to call the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office at 985-902-2088.
