The National Weather Service office for New Orleans says it is not likely that ice will form on area roadways.

"We have received a lot of questions about black ice Monday morning. Let's look at that," NWS forecasters posted.

They says it is not likely.

"There is a low chance (10-30%) of black ice concerns Monday morning."

Officials say the threat is more likely in central and northern portions of the state and in Mississippi.

"For mainly NW of Baton Rouge and for S MS."

The Weather Service says any ice that forms would not be at ground level.

"If it occurs, mainly bridges and elevated roads."

Forecast lows for the New Orleans metro area Monday morning are around 27, with wind chill values as low as 18.

It will be even colder in the Northshore.

"A low around 22. Wind chill values as low as 12," the NWS forecasts.
