
In the seven days from November 26 to December 2, 5.2 percent of coronavirus tests in New Orleans have had positive results. That number is a potential trigger to shut down indoor bar service.
When Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards ordered the state back to phase two of coronavirus pandemic restrictions, he also decreed that parishes that have two consecutive weeks of coronavirus tests higher than five percent positive will have to close bars. New Orleans' percent-positive rate the preceding week was 2.5 percent.
New Orleans was one of just a few parishes that was able to keep bars open when the state reverted to phase two.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has warned that tighter restrictions for the city could be coming if cases and hospitalizations continue to grow.
