We are very close to putting this historic winter storm behind us. Officials are asking us to hang in there just a little longer.
A lot of work has been done to clear away snow, and the ice it turned into after melting and refreezing over two nights.
Even warmer temperatures Friday will speed things up, says Jacques Thibodeaux with the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
"We can get that sense of normalcy and we hope that we'll see those temperatures get warmer sooner in the day," said Thibodeaux.
Thibodeaux says pre-planning, like securing snow plows and the crews that operate them from Arkansas before the storm hit, really helped.
And he said most residents helped by cooperating and staying home and out of their way.
"Just be patient with them for one more day, that's all we're asking, and we just don't want to get anyone hurt as we get this close to getting this behind us," he said.
Thibodeaux says with the overnight freezes becoming shorter and shorter, the dangers of frozen pipes and home-heating mishaps and fires are decreasing.
