A 21-year-old man faces charges in a fatal hit and run incident Sunday in the St. Claude neighborhood.
New Orleans Police arrested Christian Rand for the crash that killed a bicyclist at N. Claiborne Ave. and Clouet St.
"According to investigators, the adult male victim was operating a bicycle traveling on Clouet Street crossing North Claiborne Avenue when he was struck by the driver of a SUV traveling southbound on Clouet Street," said police. " After the driver of the SUV struck the bicyclist, the SUV fled westbound on North Claiborne Avenue."
Paramedics pronounced the cyclist dead on the scene.
According to police, detectives found the suspect vehicle on Monday, May 13, and Rand surrendered to the NOPD on Tuesday.
