NOPD arrested Bryan Spears in the ongoing investigation of an auto theft that occurred on July 19, 2022, at the Waffle House on Louisa and Old Gentilly Road.

At about 12:03 a.m. on July 19, the victims had parked their truck at a business and left the vehicle running while they entered the business. When the victim’s returned, they found their vehicle – along with three dogs that were inside – missing from the location.

During their investigation, NOPD Third District detectives observed on video surveillance an unknown subject enter the victim’s vehicle and drive away from the scene.

Through further investigation and with the assistance of tips received through Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans, the victims’ vehicle was recovered at a location in the Seventh District.

Today, during the service of a search warrant for an unrelated investigation, officers located Spears and found him to be in possession of one of the dogs that was reported missing in the auto theft. The dog was reunited with the victims.

Spears was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for illegal possession of stolen things in relation to the dog, while also arrested on outstanding warrants from the First District.
