Sheriff Greg Champagne announced his office made a quick arrest in this morning’s fatal shooting investigation.
The shooting happened Monday just before 1:00 a.m. inside a home in the 300 block of Smith Street in Hahnville, Louisiana. Authorities say Lionel Fiffie, 66, was shot multiple times.
“As the investigation continued, detectives were able to obtain sufficient probable cause to request an arrest warrant for Laron Toney Jr., a 21-year-old resident of Hahnville, LA. Shortly after, S.C.S.O. detectives located Toney at an apartment complex in Kenner along with the assistance of Kenner PD and the U.S. Marshal’s Service Task Force,” said Champagne in a news release.
The sheriff says this shooting does not appear to have any relation to the ongoing investigation of a November 9 shooting that happened in Killona.
