The arrest report of Kyron Fazande, one of the suspects in the murder of a waiter at Mandina's Restaurant last month, paints a portrait of a chaotic scene as two men gunned down Hilbert Walker III.
The arrest report describes a red vehicle pulling up to the Canal St. institution, two men getting out, running up to the restaurant, and blasting walker as he served a table. According to WWL-TV, the report says the shooters continued firing bullets into Walker even after he was down.
An armed security guard hired by Mandina's fired back as the killers went back to the car. One fled on foot while the other sped away. The vehicle was later found in the 200 block of South White St. Police believe that vehicle may also have been involved in a hit and run.
Police located Fazande in Houston, and the NOPD violent offenders squad and U.S. Marshals arrested him there.
The second suspect remains unidentified.
The Mandina's killing happened April 28, hours after the first day of Jazz fest closed. Many of the patrons in the restaurant had spent the day at the Fairgrounds, including a 55-year-old woman visiting from Chicago who caught a stray bullet.
