Two men are under arrest in the killing of a New Orleans Police Detective and wounding of another in Houston.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner made the announcement during a late morning press conference.

“This morning we are announcing the arrest of two individuals in connection with the murder of New Orleans Police Officer Everett Briscoe and critically wounding Dyrian Riculfy; who remains hospitalized in critical condition.”

Houston Police Chief Troy Finner discussed the circumstances of the arrests of the suspects.

“Wednesday afternoon we arrested one suspect, Anthony Richard Jenkins, a 21-year-old male he was arrested in the apartment complex on the Southwest side of Houston. Also seized in that arrest was a Nissan Altima which matched the description of the vehicle that left the homicide scene.”

Suspect Fredrick Dwayne Jackson was arrested on Thursday and taken into custody by the SWAT team. Both men face capital murder charges in the killing of Detective Everett Briscoe and the critical wounding of Dyrian Riculfy, a member of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club who was with Briscoe in Houston last Saturday in the Galleria District of Houston, an upscale shopping and dining area of the downtown.

Both suspects face capital murder and attempted capital murder charges.

Detective Briscoe will be laid to rest in New Orleans tomorrow.
