As much as eight inches of rain fell in a short time in some parts of New Orleans, Mayor Helena Moreno said.
"We just had a ton of rain come through our area," the mayor said in a social media video.
To make matters worse, Moreno said "there were apparently some issues with one of the pumping stations."
Moreno said the problem seemed to be mainly at Drainage Pumping Station 7 at the Orleans Ave. canal, which handles parts of Lakeview.
The mayor said that power for the pumps did not appear to be an issue this time.
