A man wanted on an attemped murder charge jumped off an interstate overpass in New Orleans to avoid arrest. That's according to court documents filed by Louisiana State Police investigators.
According to our partners at NOLA.com, Rene Bierra led state troopers on a chase on December 30th. That case, troopers said, ended in a crash on Interstate 10. According to investigators, Bierra jumped 25 feet off the interstate to the ground below, throwing away a backpack with drugs inside in the prcess.
Troopers say the attempted murder incident, in which Bierra is accused of choking his girlfriend into unconciousness, was unrelated to the chase.
